Which local businesses are struggling?

Entrepreneur launches new app and online contest to help local businesses.

During the pandemic, London Ontario businessman Tim Seaton has seen first-hand the need for local business support. So he has founded Yokalize, a local shopping app that helps connect customers with the nearby businesses they love.

To launch the app, Seaton is running the Save Yo’ Locals ( contest asking Londoners to suggest businesses that should receive a free listing on the app. Contest winners (business nominees and customer nominators) win free Yokalize services and perks on the new app.

“I call it the Local Paradox,” Seaton says, “In a recent study, 62% of small businesses say they may not be able to stay in business if consumer spending doesn’t recover. At the same time, 95% of consumers say they value the small businesses in their communities. If Yokalize can bridge that gap, it’s a win for everybody.”

The contest starts on April 30, 2021 and runs until August 31, 2021. People can nominate a local business by going to Seaton started developing the Yokalize app in 2020, funding development and marketing out of his own pocket. Yet he has kept business listings and downloads of the app free for all local independent businesses (free until August 31, 2021 for businesses) and customers. Businesses can also sign on for additional marketing services that include the ability to offer loyalty points, coupons, gift certificates, text messaging to customers, beacons, web marketing services and more.

“I want to get as many locals using the app as possible,” Seaton continues, “When customers can instantly find local businesses and collect points, and businesses can reach out to their loyal network of locals, community support will continue long after the pandemic has ended.”

About Tim Seaton and Yokalize

Tim Seaton resides in London, ON and has owned a few businesses. As a small businesses owner, I have always been painfully aware of just how confusing and expensive marketing can be, Covid provided me the time to observe the exaggerated impact of the pandemic on local business, and do some serious research into more cost-effective marketing platforms.

I made it my goal to bring Fortune 500 marketing functionality to the local businesses that could really use it. Apps are on the rise, mobile functionality and uptake are firmly ingrained in our culture. Local business could really benefit from this technology, but most do not have the sophisticated tools and expensive in-house marketing departments to do it on their own, until now. Yokalize is our solution, offering plug and play ease with big business functionality. All targeted to the most important market there is Yo’ local businesses.
